On 21st October 2017, the Mayor Great Aycliffe Town Council, Cllr Wendy Hillary, unveiled a plaque in Bowburn Community Centre to honour World War II munitions workers from the Bowburn area.
She also presented a medal and a certificate to one those, Louie Young.
Medals and certificates were then presented to the relatives of several other local “Angels”.
